The worldwide economic disturbance has intensified the petroleum industrys global market\r\nconstraints in terms of price instability, excess capacity, demand shifts as well as environmental\r\nregulation. Petroleum transportation, as the central logistics operation linking the upstream and\r\ndownstream functions has been paid more attention to. This paper develops a decision support system\r\n(DSS) by combining both inventory and transportation operations in petroleum transportation system. It\r\nis based upon the integration of discrete event simulation using ARENA software and the stochastic\r\noptimal control of the inventory using visual basic applications (VBA)/transportation system. A unifying\r\nsimulation framework that integrates the simulation model and controller is constructed to simulate the\r\ncontrolled inventory/transportation system. The simulation results provide a useful tool for decision\r\nmakers to evaluate strategies and policies for the design and operation of the systems, with valuable\r\ninsights into the behavior of the dynamic and stochastic system. Additionally, it sheds some light on\r\nbusiness renovation, the effective utilization of information technology and the role of business\r\nprocess modeling in supply chain integration project in oil industry....
One of the main factors in competitive environment is to reduce production costs. Selecting the right\r\nsuppliers significantly reduces the purchasing costs and improves corporate competitiveness. That is\r\nwhy the cost of raw materials and components part constitutes the main cost of a product and most of\r\nthe firms have to spend considerable amount of their sales revenue on purchasing. The aim of this\r\nresearch is to introduce an integrated model for suppliers selection and order allocation in an\r\nautomotive company. Therefore, the research was divided into two phases (conceptual modeling and\r\nmathematical modeling) with four steps. In conceptual modeling, in order to select the best suppliers,\r\nan integrated, Analytic Hierarchy Procees and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal\r\nSolution (AHP-TOPSIS) approach was used. Hence, after library studies and interview with experts,\r\nmanagers and specialists in the supply chain management field, decision criteria were identified\r\nthrough brain storming which contains the main criteria and sub criteria of the selection process for\r\nsuppliers. Then in mathematical modeling in order to allocate every selected supplier in conceptual\r\nmodeling, a Multi-Objective Linear Programming (MOLP) model was used. As such, the objectives and\r\nsubjectives of suppliers and the Automotive Company were identified. Results show that applying a two\r\nphase AHP-TOPSIS methodology aided the selection of the best suppliers. Also Automotive Companys\r\ntotal costs were minimized with using a MOLP model....
Within a supply chain, purchasing plays a key role in achieving corporate competition. Hence, selecting\r\nthe right suppliers is a vital component of these strategies. In practice, supplier selection is a multiobjective\r\nprogramming problem with vagueness and imprecision of the input data. In spite of the\r\nimportance of the problem, the literature on this subject is relatively scarce. In this paper, a fuzzy multiobjective\r\nlinear/nonlinear model is developed to overcome the vagueness of the information. At the\r\nsame time, fuzzy weight and stochastic demand are applied to enable the decision-maker to select right\r\nsupplier. The model is illustrated by a numerical example....
The increased mobility of users and rapid enhancements to ââ?¬Å?hand heldââ?¬Â technology suggest leveraging mobile technology to enhance timely transaction handling and data collection, as well as access robust tools for management decision making in supporting Supply Chain Management (SCM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and other complimentary systems. Though technology options are prevalent, applications must be developed for fit and viability on mobile devices which do not deter them from needed system functionality. Not only must internal application requirements address the mobility needs of its users, but interaction with external entities (e.g. suppliers) must be considered, as well. This paper reviews the history of devices used for Supply Chain Management and ERP applications through transition to mobile devices, as well as suggesting considerations for mobility and reachability and other factors that influence the utilization of newer technologies....
The Nigeria telecom sector has experienced a major transformation in terms of growth, technological\ncontent, and market structure over the last decade as a result of policy and institutional reforms\nculminating to the liberalization of the sector and consequently, resulting in significant rise in\ncompetition. With the industrys experience of an average of 41% annual churn rate and couple with the\nview that the cost of acquiring new customer is five times higher than maintaining an existing customer,\ncustomers retention is now seen to be even more important than customer acquisition. Therefore\nretaining customer has becomes a priority for most enterprise and there are compelling arguments for\nmanagers to carefully consider the factors that might increase customers retention rate. This study\nusing logistic regression, therefore examine the effect of socio-economic factors on customer attrition\nby investigating the factors that influence subscribers churning one service provider for another....
This article analyses some problem of supply chain management issues for Tabriz, Tehran, Kurdistan\r\nand Esfahan (Iran) firms operating in the shoes industry. The producing companies were experiencing\r\nconsiderable problems in the management of supplier relationships, as well as in the commercial\r\ndistributive channel. The case study presented the critical point in the setup of the supply chain\r\nmanagement planning, as well as the main results gated. The case study shows that the adoption is\r\nsuited. Information and communication technology (ICT) tools can save significant lead time in\r\nsupplier/ buyer relationships....
